TYPES OF DOGS: 7 DOG SHOW GROUPS

The American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes seven different dog show groups.

The Sporting Group includes breeds that were originally bred for hunting.

The Hound Group includes breeds that were bred for hunting by sight or scent.

The Working Group includes breeds that were bred for jobs such as guarding, pulling sleds, and water rescues.
